How Do You Define An A+ Offer?

This is a question I've been asked a bunch of times lately.

How do you define an A+ offer?

To me, it's an offer that lets you live life on your terms, an offer that you enjoy taking calls for, one that you're excited to be part of.

I have to manage expectations and say that my version of an A+ offer might be different than yours.

So what I'll do, I'll share what my version is, and then I'll explain how yours could vary.

An A+ offer to me has three things:

1.  High-level prospects

2.  A solid company culture

3.  Juicy commissions

High-level prospects

This is the kind of thing you don't realize you need until you experience it.

I hit a point roughly 2 years ago where I stopped enjoying sales calls.

I was speaking to the same prospect over and over, going through the same conversations, facing all of the same limiting beliefs from their end.

It was exhausting.

Every now and then, I would get a high-level prospect on the call.

They knew what was going on, they had already reached a certain level of success, and the conversation was much less about whether or not they can fix themselves, rather how they're going to go about getting from where they are to where they want to be.

These conversations lit me up.

I felt energized.

Then straight after that I would go back to your typical 'escape the 9 to 5' prospect, and that same feeling would return.

So, I changed everything.

I targeted accounts that attract high-level prospects.

They:

  • Have been through the buying process many times before
  • Are well educated and have achieved a certain level of success already
  • Want to talk about where things will go, as opposed to how awful things are now

It's one of the best things that I ever did.

Company Culture

When I say culture, most people think about woo-woo daily meetings, get-togethers and exciting Christmas parties. Maybe even a fun-shirt-Friday.

No thanks.

When I think of a good company culture, I think of two things:

  1. They view the salesperson as an equal. Both parties are bringing something to the table, and solving the problem that the other has. There's no employer/employee relationship.
  2. Fulfilment. They follow through with everything they say they'll do, not only with you but more importantly with the prospects that you sell into the program. You have absolute conviction that anyone you're bringing in will be more than looked after.

If you can bring those two things together, that is the dream culture.

Commissions

Notice that I put this as point #3.

I've had offers in the past where I was earning great money but I left because their fulfilment took a nose dive.

I can't in good conscience sell something if I don't have absolute certainty that the prospect will get everything they need.

If you break it down simply, commissions are a reflection of the value you bring to a business.

The more complicated the sale, or the bigger the ticket, the more you earn.

I seek out both.

High ticket and a more complicated sale.

After all, $3k+ per sale is a lot better than $300.

How might this be different for you?

An A+ offer will vary from person to person.

If you're new to sales you need an offer that:

  • Will give you volume
  • Lower cost per lead
  • Has runway for you to grow/evolve

If you're a year or so in, you need an offer that:

  • Has a slightly higher ticket
  • Volume where you can close and really implement new skills
  • An offer owner who will give you room to try things

Action Steps

  • Map out what your A+ offer looks like
    • What ticket sizes have I sold?
    • Who do I like selling to?
    • What do I like in an owner/manager?
    • What does a dream balance look like for me with time/hours?

Keep asking yourself those questions as your career evolves, and pursue companies who fit that.
